A dramatic biblical oil painting depicting Belshazzar’s Feast, the celebrated episode from the Book of Daniel. During a lavish royal banquet, a mysterious hand appears and writes a divine message upon the wall, foretelling the fall of King Belshazzar and his kingdom. The composition captures the dramatic moment of revelation, with the richly dressed king gesturing towards the supernatural inscription as the surrounding figures react with astonishment and fear. Strong contrasts of light and shadow, expressive figures and richly coloured costumes enhance the theatrical atmosphere of the scene.
