Buying an original painting is a very personal decision, and there is no need to follow a strict formula. You may initially be searching for a particular colour, size or subject, only to discover that a completely different painting captures your attention. That emotional response matters.

A painting will often remain in your home much longer than many pieces of furniture or decoration. Choosing something that continues to interest you is therefore more important than simply following current interior trends.

Look closely at the composition, colours, brushwork and overall feeling of the artwork. Consider where you might display it, but also ask yourself a very simple question:

Would I enjoy seeing this painting every day?
If the answer is yes, you may have found the right piece.
